Helios was founded by a father and son team. Shabbir started his career as a commodity broker in the UK at the age of 17, inheriting the trade from his father in Sri Lanka. With over 30 years of experience, he established Helios Ingredients with his son Ammar in 2007, embarking on a new venture . Shabbir’s steady guidance is complemented by his active involvement in giving back to the community.
Ammar, representing the fourth generation of the Abidali family in the food trade, serves as the managing director of Helios Ingredients. With more than two decades in the food industry, he is enthusiastic about helping customers achieve their purpose through sourcing the right ingredients at the right price and quality to suit their needs. Beyond his dedication to work, Ammar enjoys engaging in outdoor activities like cycling, hiking, and mountaineering alongside his family and friends. You’ll also find him sampling our ingredients in his own cooking at home.
